Target Audience (Be specific) |
Our film could be for anyone really but specifically would be
targeted towards teens and young adults. |
|
What is your concept? (Be thorough & specific. Review the links
on Blackboard) |
Our concept consists of a story about a girl who comes to realize her
partner is a serial killer. The film starts by a dream in which her partner
can be seen being oddly suspicious and leads up to him being seen with a dead
body. When the girl wakes up, she’s shocked but relived it was only a dream
until she turns to her partner, she finds he is not there. Upon realizing
this she anxiously gets up and finds their bathroom covered in blood. |
|
How did you conceive the idea for this concept? |
We came up with concept by thinking of which films we like best and
taking elements from those to bring them into one. |
|
What do you believe is unique about your concept? |
We think our concept is unique because it follows a story from an
outsider’s view on a personal relationship. The audience starts to figure
things out with the character as if they are immersed in the film themself. |
|
Why do you believe this product will be of interest to your audience? |
We think this will be of interest because it incorporates 2 very
popular genres that can bring together a wide range of audience. It includes
the aspects of romance movies that will attract those who like seeing how
relationships unfold. As well as, horror which is great for those who want
something that puts them in suspense. |

FEEDBACK RECEIVED FROM PEERS
|
- has room for other side plots like kids and marriage -hasn’t been done before -seems like a movie you would watch on halloween |
For
this project I am working with Lucy. We chose the genre romance/horror. We
decided on the horror aspect because it is an ever-growing movie genre becoming
increasing popular among people under the age of 25. Specifically, 43% of
horror movie viewers are millennials and we wanted our target audience to be
primarily younger people so 43% seemed like a pretty good number. With the
romance side of it, just last year in 2019 romance movies produced around
122.34 million dollars. With this information it is very clear that romance is
a very popular genre that would create success for us with the creation of this
“movie”.
From
our feedback, we received mostly positive responses. People said that our idea
seemed like the kind of movie they see themselves sitting down to watch during the
Halloween season, especially because it is a concept they have not heard of
before so that creates interest. I mostly agreed with the feedback we got. They
mentioned that the age we decided for the couple left room to build on the
storyline like the possibility of adding kids to make more seem at risk. Even
though our original vision did not involve the couple being married or having
kids I do agree that the plot does allow for room to make changes which I think
is a good thing for us to have. According to the article, “Although both of these perspectives have garnered empirical
support over a variety of studies exploring a host of different types of
entertainment, the assumption of hedonism, the focus on enjoyment, and the
emphasis placed on positive affect as a central element of "good"
entertainment have resulted in considerable puzzling about the seeming paradox
that many viewers watch and enjoy sad films.” This goes to show that we
should keep an open mind but a by having a good subject is the only way that allows
you to have room for openness.
